Hampstead Schools’ bike track proves popular with students
Welshy Contracting recently built a new bike track at Hampstead School in Ashburton. The track design simply started from a sketch; the site was then marked out and cleared of top-soil and trees. The key features of the track including speed bumps and embankments were built-up using shingle.
The final layer of the track which is 260 meters long and 2 meters wide was covered with crusher dust recycled from an existing sandpit on site. The use of mini diggers, mini tip trucks and a Bobcat allowed for easy access between trees and buildings on site.
